Werner & Mertz PROFESSIONAL demonstrated the future of cleaning with integrally sustainable products and digital solutions at CMS in Berlin

Werner & Mertz PROFESSIONAL presented its innovations for a circular economy in line with the green-Effective® principle “doing the right things right” at the cleaning industry’s international trade fair CMS 2017 in Berlin.

Stem the tide of marine litter - The Werner & Mertz Group, founder of the Recyclate Initiative, presented visionary solutions to counteract the alarming pollution of the oceans with plastic litter. The initiative established in 2012 intensely promotes never-ending high-quality recycling of old plastic as envisioned in a circular economy. In the interim, the development has advanced to the point that the Werner & Mertz Group, along with the Green Dot and ALPLA Werke Alwin Lehner GmbH, has succeeded in manufacturing translucent bottles from 100 percent used plastic, specifically rHDPE from the Yellow Bag (post consumer collection). That means that a new green care PROFESSIONAL bottle is made from old plastic. The forerunner in September 2016, the bottle for green care PROFESSIONAL high-performance floor and surface cleaner TANET SR 15, was produced from 100 percent HDPE recyclates from the Yellow Bag. Starting in October 2017, all green care PROFESSIONAL products will be offered in one-liter bottles made of 100 percent HDPE recyclates in the new quality. Furthermore, the first successful tests have been conducted with five-liter canisters made from plastic recyclates.

Safety with a “click” in professional dishwashing - The development of sustainable products for professional dishwashing takes a historical step with the introduction of Kliks. The visitors to CMS got an initial impression of “Kliks”, the first Cradle-to-Cradle™ certified system for industrial dishwashing machines. With a selection of four green care PROFESSIONAL products for dishwasher sanitation, professional users can achieve ideal cleaning results with dosages that are one-third lower than those needed for conventional systems. Thanks to “Kliks,” users can quickly and intuitively swap cleaning liquids. The highly concentrated products, packed in compact, ultra-lightweight boxes, can be switched simply and connected with the Kliks connector. Developed as a closed system, Kliks provides maximum user safety and hygiene. The “bag-in-box” packaging guarantees that the product is used to the last drop. The stand-up pouch and outer packaging can be separated easily and recycled in very little space. At the beginning of 2018, the Kliks system also will be available for laundry applications.

Cleaning in a digital world - For the first time, the WFBSC congress, the most important conference for the cleaning industry, took place at the same time as the CMS in Berlin. As a Gold Sponsor, tana-Chemie/Werner & Mertz Professional supported the conference, which took up the topic “Cleaning in a digital world – processes, people, technology”. Frank Vancraeyveld, managing director of the PROFESSIONAL division in the Werner & Mertz Group and CEO of tana-Chemie, participated in the panel discussion “Digitalization from the perspective of our business partners” and debated with three other participants the future opportunities for digitalization in building cleaning. “I see the biggest advantage in optimizing the product application. With digital approaches we can ensure that the right product is used in the right way, leaving no room for interpretation by the user“, said Vancraeyveld.

Quick & Easy System presents its digital training platform - At the trade fair stand Werner & Mertz PROFESSIONAL showed how digitalization can simplify the cleaning process. The Mainz-based cleaning products manufacturer presented the expansion of the successful Quick & Easy Systems from green care PROFESSIONAL with its new integrated digital application platform. All Quick & Easy product labels contain a QR code that provides access to user videos for different uses and to additional product information. The videos demonstrate the cleaning processes and show how to prevent typical usage errors. They feature the professional cleaning and disinfection of hotel rooms, medical practices, sanitary facilities, offices, classrooms and kitchens. As of the beginning of 2018, an offline training program will be added to give the property manager access to segment-specific product training. “With videos on smartphones and tablets, we can always support the users while they are on the job. That greatly simplifies the cleaning process,” said Vancraeyveld. As a follow-up to the success of Quick & Easy, the mobile dosing system for safe and ergonomic cleaning, the application spectrum has been expanded to include disinfection with APESIN multi Quick & Easy and APESIN kitchen Quick & Easy. “We are very satisfied with the way things went at this year’s CMS. The record number of visitors to the fair was obvious to us by the crowds that came to our stand. We were able to make some valuable contacts and also received positive feedback on our new products,” said Vancraeyveld.
